Admitted to the British Columbia Bar 1998

David is a second generation Canadian whose parents immigrated to Canada from Southern Germany. As such, he grew up in a bilingual household. Although he was born and raised in British Columbia, his adventurous spirit has taken him on many globe-trotting adventures. During his university studies he spent his summers with BC Helitack crews fighting forest-fires all across Canada. Between periods of study, he also took the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe, South East Asia, Australia, and Central and South America. More recently, he took a one-year sabbatical living abroad in Berlin, Germany.

David obtained his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of British Columbia. He then completed law school and articles in Victoria, BC, and was called to the Bar in 1998. David spent the first part of his career as a federal prosecutor in both Victoria and Vancouver. In 2006 he shifted his focus to personal injury law and to family law, with a particular interest in collaborative family law and mediation. He has extensive mediator training through the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC, and through Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. He is certified by the Law Society of British Columbia as a family law mediator.

David has professional memberships in the Law Society of BC and the Victoria Bar Association. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Victoria Citizens’ Counseling Centre, where he also works as a volunteer counselor.

David is currently on sabbatical from his law practice and living in Zürich, Switzerland where he is completing post-graduate clinical training in Jungian Psychoanalysis. Returning to Victoria in 2010, he will resume his practice, offering his services as lawyer, mediator, and Jungian Psychotherapist.
